A sense of belonging...
In the church that is described in the book of Acts in the New Testament the people met all together regularly in the temple courts. In the same passage, in Acts chapter 2, it also states that the people broke bread in their homes. It is this more home-based community that we are seeking to build through our small groups. It is relatively easy to attend large meetings and to even blend into the background. However, God's heart is to knit us into a local church to be part of that community. Through belonging to a community like this we can grow into maturity of the faith through the help and guidance of other Christians around us. At City Church our small groups meet across the city in various homes. The groups worship together, break bread together, study the Bible together and encourage each other in reaching out to the city where we live. Our aim is that these groups grow in both the maturity of the Christians in them as well as in number through people giving their lives to Jesus and joining His church. Why not visit one of our small groups. You will probably find a group of people just like you: seeking to live life by the Spirit, bringing glory to God. |
