| who is Jesus? |
|
There are many sources, both biblical and historical, that support the evidence that Jesus lived as a man on earth. He was born the son of a carpenter, lived most of his life in complete obscurity and then, for approximately the last three years of His life, became a travelling preacher. He preached to crowds of thousands, healed the sick, cast out demons, and loved those He came into contact with. His life ended with death by crucifixion, widely acknowledged to be the cruelest method of execution known to man. Over two thousand years He has been the most written about, most talked about and most influential character in human history. But who was He.......... ‘A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be insane or else he would be ‘the Devil of Hell’. You must make a choice. Either Jesus was, and is, the Son of God or else He was insane or evil.’ C.S. Lewis At City Church, we believe that Jesus was, and is, the Son of God and through His death and resurrection, has made the way for us to find forgiveness before God and relationship with Him. We believe that He lives today and comes and lives in those who choose to follow him. We believe that, through His Holy Spirit, He still speaks to us, heals the sick, drives out demons and loves people with an unconditional love. ‘We are faced with a frightening alternative. Either Jesus was, (and is), exactly what He said or else He was insane or something worse. ... ‘however strange or terrifying or unlikely it may seem, I have to accept the view that He was and is God.’
C.S. Lewis
